An Update from the PCIA - March 2021
The Year 2020 was a challenging one for all of us. The Covid-19 Pandemic has worked exceedingly diligently to throw us “Off Our Game,” but the resolve of the many millions of people throughout this World, State, and Community has remained. For more than a year now, we’ve all had our lives altered by this virus.
All of the "ducks lined up," and the PCIA has become a Vaccination Site hosting up to 1000 vaccinations per day (of operation) helping to reduce the issues created by the Covid-19 Pandemic. Like many things in conjunction with this past year and this Pandemic, I have learned a greater sense of patience and I've become more adaptable.
The Mission of the Piscataquis County Ice Arena is as follows:
Mission:
The Piscataquis County Ice Arena will provide an environment where the people within our county, and beyond, can coexist and prosper in physical health, foster personal connections, and improve overall mental well being. From on-ice activities to connections made at our NxtLvl tables, all in our Piscataquis County communities will have the opportunity to contribute.
Living up to our Mission, the PCIA is proud to be able to offer our facility as a Vaccination Site. “Physical Health” meant something different as I wrote the Mission Statement, but sometimes words can hide additional meanings which are only discovered when situations change. The Covid-19 Pandemic will be told throughout history as a difficult period of time for humanity. Hopefully, locally (if not throughout the State), the pivoting the PCIA has accomplished this past year will be recognized as a positive response to the Pandemic. Although we realize we’ve taken away the opportunities for our Curlers, Hockey Programs, Skaters, and Broomballers, we do so in the Hope of increasing the rate at which the Covid-19 Vaccination can be distributed to those same people as well as the other residents in Piscataquis County and beyond.
